So I had a call with a medic, the patient had chest pain, HR was 80, regular R-R, slight artifact (old Lifepak 10 still warming up). Medic insisted it was afib RVR, she claimed any A-fib over 60 bpm is RVR because it's a ventricular rhythm. That doesn't sound right, isn't afib RVR usually over 100 bpm? Did I miss something in cardiology?

A-fib with RVR means the heart rate is over 100 bpm, so 80 bpm is not RVR.
Nope you're not crazy, A-fib RVR is usually anything over 100 bpm. A-fib with a rate of 80 and regular R-R doesnt fit , especially if there was artifact and the monitor was still warming up. Sounds like the medic may have been confused or misreading the rhythm.

Absolutely, having A-fib with regular R-R intervals at 80 BPM just doesn't add up. It's probably a result of some artifact or a misreading during the monitor's warm-up process. A-fib typically presents with an irregularly irregular rhythm, no matter what the rate is.
